Man, I have just wasted the last hour trying to download a goddamn hotfix for Visual Studio 2005 SP1 so that I can do some dev at home.

Somehow the extremely intelligent (SARCASM ALERT) people at Microsoft have managed to:

a) Introduce a regression into their compiler via VS2005 SP1
b) Make it nearly impossible to download the hotfix for a)

Apparently they did actually fix the regression but the fix didn’t make it into SP1… lame.

To get hotfixes you usually have to phone the Microsoft help desk but after a bit of searching I found an awesome experimental MS website that allows you to download hotfixes that have not yet been fully tested. The one I want is listed and everything. I click on the link and it tells me that the requested page doesn’t exist… Boooooo.

The worse thing is that I actually wasted bandwidth and time downloading and installing SP1 when it gives me no discernible improvement and in this case has just managed to totally fark up a project that was compiling perfectly well beforehand. Grrr…
